Protagonists speaking: Bettina Fontanelli, founder of Bettina Design

Last year at Famaart, the International showcase for new developments in the sector, Bettina Design presented a number of new products, including an original use for the Venetian briccole (the wooden columns used to signpost routes through the lagoon). Can you tell us a little about that?

We created frames made from small pieces of disused Venetian briccole using a meticulous process carried out by hand. The resulting products have been very well received and we are proud of them. There is a small piece of Venice in every frame. In 2014 we submitted a patent for a new technical production procedure that is faster and cheaper and enables the development of a vast range of industrial finishes.

What do you have in store for the coming edition, seeing as the event will have the attention of the whole sector?

We will definitely be bringing the two new innovations I have mentioned as well as products from the Nuance collection and from other collections. The Showcase of Famaart at BolognaFiere is thriving and I am optimistic about our presence at the event, I hope there will be a good response from the public that chooses to attend.
