Protagonists speaking: Sergio Farnè, Chairman, FARNÈ GROUP s.r.l.
1) This edition of Famaart has featured the Farnè Award. Can you tell us about it?
The idea of remembering Roberto Farnè came during the Fama Europe Assembly in the spring of 2014. The award aims to promote creativity and encourage new collections that bring together many styles in response to international design trends. This is what Roberto ceaselessly strove for during 25 years as Export Manager of our Group. As the focus of the award is the picture frame, entries must be not contain a painting or poster - to emphasize that although what’s in the frame is important, the moulding is a vital component of the complete work.
Our Company was set up in 1965, first of all as a woodworking firm and subsequently as a specialist picture frame manufacturer. The market has changed completely, as has the approach to the market. Continuous changes in the various geo-political areas has demanded a flexibility and adaptability that were previously not required. We must be as attuned as possible to the needs of today’s end user, something that is not helped by the slow generational turnover. Technological developments have also totally revolutionized the product supply range.
3) What were your features for 2015 edition?
Our proposals can be summed up as follows:
- Timber raw materials only from certified sustainably managed forest stands;
- Moulding profiles with high-quality prevalently hand-crafted finishes;
- Wider profiles that maximize finishes.
